Structured & Unstructured Play

Early Movers Academy rotates between soccer, basketball and rugby/AFL as the focus sport of the week at each preschool. Aside from the warm-up and cool-down, our sessions are typically divided into 3 main sections:

Skills

Shooting

Small-Sided Games

In this section, the children are challenged to learn and develop new skills individually or in pairs, focusing on developing gross-motor skills. This may be bouncing and catching in basketball, balancing on the ball in soccer or throwing and catching in rugby/AFL.

The shooting component enables the children to experience success in various sports, by kicking a goal, making a basket or scoring a try. The kids are grouped and race one another in pairs or threes, where the remaining children often cheer on their peers to do their best!

The session concludes with a small-sided game, where the kids are divided into teams. Through unstructured play, the children are able to take the skills they have learnt throughout the session into a play-based game, where they can use their imagination, take risks and learn by having fun!

SOCIAL INTERACTION

Multi-sport training at a young age helps preschool children develop fundamental movement skills and techniques, which serve as a foundation for a variety of physical activities. Our program achieves this through learning skills such as running, jumping, kicking, hopping, throwing, catching and more.

Engaging in many sports challenges the brain of young kids in many aspects. Our program teaches your child to problem solve by discovering new movements, listening to instructions, understanding rules and evaluating the decisions they make for themselves.

Early Movers Academy provides opportunities for preschoolers to engage with their peers, where the children learn to take turns, share, work as a team to complete a task and compete in small-sided games. This allows them to develop essential life skills of teamwork and sportsmanship.

CONFIDENCE & SELF-ESTEEM

Taking part in various sports enables young children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, balance, agility and overall physical fitness.

Most importantly, we strives to grow the confidence and self-esteem of all our mini movers as they learn new skills, overcome challenges and encounter success. We promote learning through fun!
